Cosmetic Acupuncture or ‘facial rejuvenation’ utilizes both acupuncture and topical herbs to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as toning, lifting and refreshing the skin. These sessions take a comprehensive, holistic approach to address both the superficial tissues of the face, as well as attending to the inner disharmonies of the body which can be reflected on the skin.
After a brief consultation, acupuncture points are used locally around your designated ‘problem’ areas with the aim to increase blood circulation, stimulate collagen and elastin production as well as tone and balance facial muscles. Additional points on the body are used to support your constitution and overall wellbeing. Facial masks using Chinese herbs and the use of jade rollers and/or gentle ‘gua sha’ may also be used during treatment to nourish and hydrate the skin.
Diet and lifestyle advice will also be given to you in order to support you in between your sessions.
The effects of acupuncture are cumulative in nature, and therefore work more effectively in a series of sessions. Treatments are therefore recommended as a series of 8-10 in order to maximise effect, however these sessions are also offered individually as a means of self-care and relaxation.
