FOAM ROLLING

A great tool to assist in tired sore muscles is foam rolling. Even if you are not an athlete, maybe you are driving a lot, sitting at your computer, or just feel stiff and sore? Foam rolling doesn’t have to be overwhelming, you don’t need to spend 30 mins doing it! I use my foam roller 2-3 times a day. I leave it in the hall so when I walk past it I remember to use it.

I simply put it on the ground, then roll my hamstrings 5 times each leg, the same on my calves, flip over to my stomach and do my quads, and on my side. I lastly put the roller under my back and gently roll 4-5 times down my back. Doing this a few times a day gives me more movement in my muscles.

You can purchase a foam roller right here at In Symmetry!

If sitting on the floor does not sound enticing, you can also use a stick roller. It looks a little like a rolling pin and can be picked up at Kmart for $8. You can use this sitting, and roll the roller on your calves, quads, hamstrings.

One other little tool I use is the spikey ball (which you can also pick up in reception)

I use this against the wall in my shoulder blades, on my glutes, or the bottom of my feet. Rolling for a minute or so each side to try and relieve some tension.
