Myotherapy & Remedial Massage

MYOTHERAPY

Myotherapy is the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal problems and pain. The objectives of a Myotherapy treatment are to alleviate pain and restore ideal mechanics in your body using a number of treatment techniques, including massage, dry needling, cupping, and corrective exercises.

The profession of remedial massage was expanded upon to create Myotherapy. It was acknowledged that practitioners needed more thorough training to have a more comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, and the bio-mechanics of pain and injury. The leaders in the field who created Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy were Dr Janet Travell and Dr David Simons.

Beyond massage, Myotherapy has developed to embrace additional modes of pain management and trigger point therapy. Treatments for Myotherapy incorporate techniques like dry needling, cupping, and therapeutic exercise.

SPORTING & OCCUPATIONAL INJURIES

If you’ve experienced an injury in your sporting activity, in your workplace or at home preventing you from doing daily activities and overall just being a nuisance to your day and want to get back to your best; it may be a strained hamstring, a sprained ankle, cramping, carrying a heavy object, pulling out a stubborn weed – Myotherapy can assist you by improving circulation for a shorter recovery time, improving flexibility and mobility, break up scar tissue and stretch the connective tissue to prevent adhesion’s while reducing postural and functional imbalances.

REMEDIAL MASSAGE

Remedial massage has a direct impact on the muscular system by relieving tight or overused muscles, allowing your body to relax. Helpful for range of issues such as injury, chronic pain, or damage from repetitive motions or sedentary behaviour. This may also include sport massage which helps your muscles become balanced and to relieve the stress built up from exercise such as running or walking. It can be carried out before or after playing sport/exercising and uses techniques designed to increase performance and endurance, while also minimising recovery time.
