Part two on our journey is the mind…….
The brain is one of our most useful and powerful tools. We need to look after it and be mindful of our life and things that affect us.

“Our life is shaped by our mind; we become what we think.”

~ Siddhartha Gautama

This is one of the Buddha’s relatively famous conclusions about life. From this and our clinical experience we can infer that your mentality and happiness effects how you feel about life, your body, your pain and more.

We encourage you to add some mindfulness to your day.  Take a moment and a mental note … How is your body feeling?  What, if anything has caused you stress?  What, if anything has caused you happiness or relaxation?  What do you enjoy?  Meditation is a great habit to get into but it does take some time to be proficient.

"You don't need to see a therapist 40 times to learn it.  But like tennis, it's a skill.  You need to practice. In time, people develop the ability to produce these meditative, very relaxed states very quickly.  When they meditate several times during the day, they become more relaxed during the entire day."

~ Stan Chapman PHD

Relax for a moment and then start thinking about how to minimise the stress, discomfort, pain and other feelings that aren’t productive to a contented life.  Focus on the healthy, happy, and calming notes in this busy world.

During COVID I was personally guilty of being sucked into a daily routine that wasn’t especially productive or useful.  Doing things that didn’t benefit me in the slightest as they became ‘the norm’ and what I was used to.  The time I found to help myself was just after sunrise when I was eating breakfast and there was still a calmness in the nearby streets of Melbourne, almost before the world woke up completely.   Out in the countryside we are blessed with the ability to separate ourselves from the super busy city life that I had previously experienced.

Let’s set up a time of reflection to go over everything that makes us happy, productive and the best we can be. Looking after your body, reducing pain and reaching out to others can be wonderful options.

Daniel is available on Monday’s and Fridays. If you would like to book an appointment you can call the clinic on (03) 5429 3610 or book online by clicking the link below.
